Pack your sunglasses, bring your dancing shoes, and get ready for an unforgettable celebration in paradise. We can’t wait to welcome you to Aruba as we say ‘I do’ surrounded by the people we love most!

Our Story

Our story started in September 2022 with one swipe, right when we were both almost ready to give up on dating completely. Safe to say, we’re very happy we didn’t.

Our first date

From the very first conversation, everything felt easy, natural, and fun. We talked nonstop, laughed constantly, and somehow it already felt like we had known each other forever. On the very first day, there was even jokingly a marriage proposal, all because we both loved soca music. Honestly, that was probably the moment we both knew this was going somewhere.

After one week of endless messages and videocalls, we finally went on our first date. And let’s just say… it did not disappoint. From the moment we saw each other in real life, it was game over.

Us during our first months together

The date was full of laughter, good vibes, and instant chemistry. And because one adventure clearly wasn’t enough, we ended the night at a shots bar together. We laughed the entire time, the chemistry was undeniable. Bold choice for a first date? Absolutely. Regrets? None. Looking back now, that first date perfectly described us: fun, spontaneous, a little chaotic, and completely inseparable from the start.

From that moment on, we fell hard, fast, and completely head over heels for each other. What began with a single swipe has blossomed into a journey far greater than we ever could have imagined.

Since that first date, we’ve become best friends, partners, travel buddies, each other’s biggest supporters, and proud parents too. Our greatest adventure of all has been growing our little family. We are beyond grateful for our beautiful daughter Avery, who made our love even more special, and with our baby boy Evan, our beautiful little family is complete.

And somehow, in the middle of all the chaos, laughter, date nights, family moments, and creating a home together, our love story just keeps getting better.

The proposal

One of the most unforgettable chapters happened on Aruba.

Us in Aruba

On a beautiful sunny day, surrounded by family, the big question was asked. What made it even more special was that it was a complete surprise, which is almost impossible when it comes to Nicole. While everyone else seemed calm, Ruben had secretly been planning this moment for five whole months, making sure every single detail was perfect.

And it truly was.

With the ocean breeze, the sunshine, the people we love most around us, and emotions running high, Ruben got down on one knee and completely shocked Nicole. There were tears, laughter, disbelief, and one very excited and assertive “YES!”

It was one of those moments that felt frozen in time, beautiful, emotional, and filled with so much love. A moment we will cherish forever.

Now, we’re counting down the days until we return to Aruba once again, this time to celebrate our wedding and officially begin our next chapter as husband and wife, surrounded by the people who mean the world to us.

Practical Information

A few things to help you plan your trip. We’re so glad you’re considering joining us in Aruba.

Getting there

Fly into Queen Beatrix International Airport (AUA) in Oranjestad, Aruba. KLM and TUI offer direct flights from Amsterdam.

When to arrive

The wedding is on Saturday June 12th, so we recommend arriving no later than Friday June 11th to give yourself time to settle in and recover from the journey before the big day.

If you’d like to join us for the optional activities earlier in the week, the rum distillery tour on Wednesday and the catamaran on Thursday, plan to be on the island from Tuesday June 8th or Wednesday June 9th. The more of the week you can make, the better!

Where to stay

To be close to the wedding and group activities, we suggest finding accommodation in one of these areas:

  • Noord
  • Palm Beach
  • Malmok
  • Oranjestad

Looking for a villa or apartment? Vacation rentals are a great option for groups. Browse Airbnb or VRBO for availability in the areas above.
